Hanging out with George Brett and the ChiSox

Only a short four years ago, TJ and I took a trip to Kansas City to visit the IBC client site. We ended up one evening at a restaurant called George Brett's. We joked around with the waitress asking if Brett was there, and she said the Chicago White Sox had just left a few hours earlier. So after a few Fat Tires, we decided we would tell the rest of the project that we partied with George Brett and the Big Hurt. I believe the next night is what would later be termed Teddy Bear-gate. Those were good times. News out of K.C....

Brett pulls out of K.C. restaurant

When George Brett got into the restaurant business four years ago, he envisioned his place to be the Kansas City version of "Cheers." But it never quite worked out that way, and now "George Brett's" at 210 W. 47th St. on the Plaza is giving way to a new restaurant called "210." And the new place will go on with the original investors, except for Brett, who is pulling out. "I don' have any regrets,"Brett said. "I've essentially lived in Kansas City since 1974 and never really invested in anything here except houses. I wanted to try investing in something like a restaurant, a place I could hang out at, too."

Bowyer vs. Stewart

Well, after intense research and long sleepless nights, I may have very well have decided on a new driver for the 2008 NASCAR season. At long last, the winner is...Clint Bowyer in the 07 Jack Daniel's car. I figure he drives a Chevy and his sponsor is booze, so how can you go wrong? I must admit though I'm having a trouble leaving my boy Stewart. I like a driver who openly curses, wrecks people, and fights. Who knows, maybe I'll get past the fact he's driving a Toyota and switch back to him midway through the season.

Vegas vs. NASCAR

I just realized the Brickyard 400 is the same weekend (July 26-27) we plan to go to Vegas. So I guess I might only make it to one race this year. I think Vegas kicks NASCARs ass. It hurts me to say that.

Studying NASCAR coming soon to a college near you

"Certainly NASCAR is a get your hands dirty, crawl under the hood type sport, but added technology and increasing advancements is demanding higher levels of education for its players.

And while NASCAR's CEO Brian France would like to "get back to the basics" of the sport, change is inevitable amidst growth and a diverse talent pool.

Team owners now expect their engineers and crew chiefs to come with college degrees, and a number of universities across the country now offer motorsports as a major paired with NASCAR-specific curriculum..."

I'm going back to college. Here is the rest of the article:

Wii Adventure - Guess it was meant to be!

Yes, it's true. Jesse bought a Wii at 2am in the morning. Now let's step back into time to see how this came to be.

Well, it all started at Jesse's apartment. It was a Friday and we both finished up a Superman. Seems like that is always where our stories start. From there, we were bored and Dana had just stopped over. Jesse said, "I was actually thinking about getting a Wii today." I replied kind of jokingly, "You should." I guess those were the magic words because the next thing I know we were on the adventure of our lifetimes or as I would say "the longest damn trip of my life."

To make a long story short, here are the highlights:

1) Walmart on Ridge Road closed at 11pm and we got there around 11:20....BOOOOOOO!

2) Meijer just down the street was sold out......Double BOOOOOO!

3) Jesse says "I think it's over, I'm just not meant to have a Wii." Sorry but God or the devil had different plans.

4) We venture back to Jesse's but oh no it does not end there.

5) We look online and Walmart on Kingman Road has one and it's only 6.84 miles away. We call and they have 3.....the guy on the other end says ".....but we won't be able to hold it for you" What the hell, it's 12:30am at night, who the hell is going to buy 3 Wii's at 12:30am. Anyway.

6) We drive to a Walmart close to Kingman but it was wrong Walmart. No Wii's there.

7) We drive to Kingman Road which happens to be a housing development with No Walmarts in site. Directions on Walmart website were wrong......I'm calling some Sheninigans. #2 - Jesse says "It's not meant to be!"

8) We drive up to Milford and get the Wii at the right Walmart. 2am

Guess it was Meant to BE!
