Golf #3

Jesse, Todd and I went golfing this past weekend at Vista Verde. Here are the highlights:

  • Scores: Jesse - 100, Me - 102, Todd - 108. It was definitely a rough 9 holes. Couldn't resist the lame joke. Sorry bout that!
  • Jesse coming out of the woods with 5 golf balls. Nice find!
  • Jesse smashing Todd in the hand with a red corn cob. Yes.......There was a red corn cob on the tee box at one of the holes. So Jesse thought it would be a good idea to hit it with a golf club in the direction of Todd who was getting ready to tee off. Well, it flew pretty fast off his club and hit Todd right in the finger and made him bleed. Good one!
  • Jesse upstrapped my bag and it fell off the golf cart. I had been checking every hole b/c I knew they would eventually do that and on the last hole, I didn't check and look what happened.

The weather was beautiful. It was in the upper 70's.

$17 beer?

Ok, it was really $17 for 6 beers, but still the most damn expensive 6er I've bought. It was $15.99 for this beer. But after tax / deposit, it was up over $17. 10% booze ... strong stuff at least flavor wise, I could only drink a couple at a time.

Also, the liquor store I bought this at had Crown Royal in a RED bag. It was ~$180. Some extra special rare blend or something. I kept touching it. It was displayed on a pedestal on the counter. He kept giving me dirty looks and I gave it the once over. I wanted to buy it, but figured I needed to eat the rest of the month.

On Top of The Softball World

Our first softball game was supposed to be last Tuesday but it got rained out so our first game was this past Tuesday. It was a double header and our team tends not to start off the season very well. Well, we started the season with a bang. We pulled off a 15 - 4 victory in the first game and a 16-8 win in second to start us off 2-0.

I tried my own personal Freel impression in the first inning with a head first slide to score and a dive in left field to make the 3rd out of the inning. I continued the impressation of Freel by getting drunk after the game. Not really but that would have been better. I was still kinda hungover from the day before. I was in Cleveland the day before and stayed up late playing NBA Jam on the Super Nintendo with my brother. Good times!

A Man Among Wolves

Alright, at first I thought this was a joke. I'm watching the Reds game and I have seen this commercial a couple times now, so it must be real. There is a new show premiering Monday on National Geographic. It's this guy who lives with wolves. They show him eating raw meat and wrestling with them. It looks f-ing crazy.

EE

I'm sitting here watching the game and can I say that the Reds look like crap these last few days. The D-bags look like such a better team. Edwin Encarnacion (aka EE) had yet another chance with runners on scoring position...and he blew it again. He didn't even run the first base after he popped up with runner on first and third. Jerry Narron just benched him (early in the game). They showed him sitting over moping in the corner by himself. Everyone else is standing up by the fence and he's over crying in a corner. I guess they're going to have to teach Hamilton to play third.

On a side note, I'm going to start using the A-Rod, Dice-K notation crap the media uses...on the Reds that is. Here are a couple of my favorites: Ken Griffey Jr. = Kenny-G, Scott Hatteberg = S-Hat, Alex Gonzalez = A-Gon (pronounced gone), Kyle Lohse = K-Lo (kind of like J-Lo).

Working 9 to 5...uhhh...not really

We're refreshing our QA system from Production this week. It's our first time peforming a refresh on this system. Apparently when Infocrossing took the backup, they did it directly to tape, four of them. When we started the restore, we had to run it in the foreground so we would know when we had to call Infocrossing to switch to the next tape. Unfortunately, our Putty sessions will time out after a certain period of inactivity. So, we decided to have someone sit there and push the Enter key every 15 mins. It was kind of like Lost only we didn't have to enter a code...and we weren't stranded on a tropical island with hot chicks...and nothing was going to actually explode (except our restore) if we didn't push the button...so basically it was nothing like Lost. I digress. Anyway, yesterday I found out that there is a Putty setting to send null packets every so many minutes to keep the session active. Too late now...we already started it. Doh!

Work hours for the last few days (in office):

Monday: 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. (16 hours)
Tuesday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday: 12:30 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Dirtiest animals in the world

Last week, I walked up to Donato's and picked up a pizza for lunch. On my way back to the office, I saw some pigeons up ahead fighting for something on the sidewalk. I get closer and realize it's somebody's yack. Those things were going to town on it. I almost lost it right then and there. Finally, the light turned green and after I crossed the street, I saw some more pigeons up ahead. They were eating what appeared to be another pile of spew chunks. I think it was two different people. One pile was orange and one was brown. I thought, "Oh man, I'm not going to be able to eat now." But as soon as I sat down, I devoured what must have been half of a large pizza. I guess it didn't bother me that much. I think if I would have had another bite, I would have been feeding the pigeons too.

Arthur's

Have either of you been to Arthur's lately? My folks were down in Cincy Monday doing some shopping with my sister and they went to Arthur's for dinner.

My mom told me and my mouth started watering and I got jealous, then my mom reminded me I was boycotting it. Remember when you gave them hell Jesse? Apparently they remembered when they were leaving that we were boycotting it. And that Jesse lived near there. My dad said if he'd have remembered earlier, he'd have gotten your number from me and called you over for a beer.

Two!?

The Bengal's have two Monday nighters!? Damn! Will the elf ... aka alien ... aka Henry be around for either of them? You'll have to go to them. That Monday nighter we went to was awesome, even though the Bronco's got killed.

PGL

I gave her exactly $3.50 today. First, I handed her the three dollar bills. She says, "What do we got, four?" I say nothing, thinking that when I give her the two quarters she would be able to figure it out. But no. She hands me back the parking slip and a dollar. I said, "No, I gave you $3.50." She said, "Oh, I thought you gave me $4.50." I said, "No, why would I do that? It's $3.50 to park here right?" Good lord. It's never ending.

For the Love of the Game

I went to two Reds games this weekend...both by myself, and both freezing ass cold. But they won both games. And I bought $5 tickets and had sweet seats. Here are the highlights.

1. Apparently Major League Baseball made the Reds let people sit wherever they want because of the weather. Otherwise they were going to have to cancel the games. At least that is what the beer guy told me, and I have no reason not to trust a man who gives me ice cold Budweisers. I was standing down behind home plate and first base for a while until I heard the beer guys complaining about how everyone was allowed to sit in the lower level, thus a surplus of beer guys, thus less tips, thus unhappy beer guys. I ended up sitting in the handicapped seating at the top of the lower level. Plenty of leg room and a great view. I liked it so much I sat there the next day.

2. The poor saps they had trying to sell Lemon Chills up and down the aisles. Those guys were hating life.

3. The hot chocolate line...nothing like missing half of the game because that hot chocolate sounds so good. Suck it up and grab a beer I say.

4. Free stuff. Schedule magnet one night, team calendar the next day.

5. The Adam Dunn homer that hit off the right fielder's glove and over the wall. Almost as funny as the one off of Jose Canseco's head...almost.

Reds

Take a picture of the standings now while we're on top. Cause we're gonna lose at least however many starts Milton gets. He's a POS.

When's Hamilton gonna get in a game? I heard he was supposed to start one over the weekend but was sick. Was he really sick or relapsing on some blow?

Curb Your Enthusisam Crusade

TJ, not sure if you seen Curb Your Enthusisam on HBO but what a great show. I started watching it about a year ago by accident one night and fell in love with it. It stars Larry David, the writer of Seinfeld, and most of the show is Seinfeld type humor but they can throw in bad words, etc b/c it's on HBO. There are no new episodes but HBO still shows old ones. Here's the website:

Well, I have been on a crusade to collect all the Curb Your Enthusisam episodes by any means necessary. I have finally completed my quest and have started the process of putting them on DVD by season. I found some software that you can create menus for the episodes and so forth. Season 1 has been put on DVD and I'm letting Jesse test it out to see what he thinks.

Second Round of Golf

Went golfing with Marv last Friday and shot a 53. The putting was definitely not Tigerish and my chipping was absolutely terrible. The only positive was my my middle irons. I was hitting them pretty good.

We need to plan a trip to Michigan this summer and get our golf and drink on.
